Tell us a little bit about you and your journey to where you are now with your career and / creative path?
After having been in the business of designing and importing beautiful furniture, lighting and homewares, I have moved very strongly into designing the homes these pieces go into as well, creating either the full Bisque aesthetic for our clients, or adapting to the client's style, simply refining it slightly.
What do you love most about being a woman today?
What I love most is about being a woman today is to have the full respect of both men and women in my field, where we can openly talk about design, real estate, the state of the economy and all things revolving around our field of work. Lively, open discussion, always. I also have the full support of both men and women in this industry, where they send me clients and I do the same for them, a mutual, even level of respect for each other. I love the even playing field in this industry that was not always known for this.
How would you describe your style and what influences what you wear; how would you like to express yourself through your choices with your personal style?
I would think I am more on the casual side, to the point where I prefer to not wear shoes. I am all about natural fabrics and natural colours and rarely wear tight fitting clothes. I love understated style, absolute simplicity. I also prefer timeless pieces that have transcended all fads that have abound.
What practices inspire you to keep evolving?
I am now starting to fine tune my design by using programmes in conjunction with my hand drawn designs. I find this both challenging yet strangely enjoyable, learning new skills.
What is your favourite part of calling Byron Bay home?
My favourite part of calling Byron home is the absolute diversity and inclusiveness of the people. There is nowhere else that has a mix of people who are so accepting of each other, regardless of their social background, financial state, or past history. As soon as we meet here, we are moving forward and ready to get to know all the positive sides of everybody.
What is on the horizon for you - what’s next?
Moving forward I plan to continue doing our own product design, house design, artwork. For the rest of my days.
Finally, what is it about wearing Natasha's garments that resonates for you ?
I have been a Natasha fan for nearly 30 years. Each and every piece I have ever owned has always gone into my ’special’ section of my wardrobe. I pull them out when I want to feel a bit more glam, a bit more feminine, a bit more special.
With thanks
Natasha xo
