Tell us a little bit about you and your journey to where you are now with your career / creative path?
I started out as an architect, in-fact it was the stress of architecture school that drove me to the yogic path! At 29 I moved to India and started my own design firm. It was at that time that I simultaneously started a 2 year long yoga teaching apprenticeship that led to me doing my yoga teacher training. I loved architecture and design so much, but yoga called at my soul and so I became a full time yoga teacher. After several years of teaching in Australia I started my own Yoga School, the Light Collective. We are mostly online now and attract students now from across the world to join us in our Online Yoga Studio, Yoga Teacher Trainings and Feminine Centred Tantrik Courses.
What is it that you love most about being a woman today?
I love that the Ancient Tantrik teachings of the Divine Feminine are just now being revealed to us! This feminine centred approach to Divinity has been lost for hundreds of years and now we are on the start of a path to understanding how to access and tap into this Shakti power. For me it has impacted my life profoundly, allowing me to express the Divine Feminine in myself fully on every level- sexually, spiritually, physically. I feel so lucky to have access to these teachings as a woman now.
How would you describe your style and what influences what you wear; how you like to express yourself through your choices with your personal style?
I love classic pieces combined with something super outrageous or a bit quirky. For example classic Levi's 501s jeans, a great white shirt, but with a super whacky jacket or a vintage kimono and stripey socks. I am a little addicted to op-shopping, so to be honest most of what is in my wardrobe is second hand! I also like to play between masculine and feminine in my clothes. Now that I think about it all of these aspects are a bit like me- I am a little whacky and silly at times, I love creating something original and loath when people copycat others! I also spend most of my career discussing the play of the Divine Masculine and Feminine, so it's interesting that I have always explored this in my style!
What practices inspire you to keep evolving yourself and your career, during such changing and often challenging times?
The Tantrik Yoga Practice keeps me continually inspired. As an Indian mystic once told me - You have a spiritual fire that blazes inside of you! One that many people can't see on the outside. This rings true for me- I have an inner impulse, a soul calling that seems to drive me ever forward on my spiritual path and with the Light Collective Community.
What is your favourite part of calling Byron Bay home?
It is the most beautiful place in the world! I have travelled across the world many times over and have never found a place which combines the mountains and oceans and people in such a way. Incredible food, healthy lifestyle and a sense that I am here connected to the natural rhythms and cycles of the cosmos. I see the Full Moon rising, I know the tides and feel the seasons in a way I could never connect to in the city. I am so lucky to call this part of the world my home.
What is on the horizon for you - what’s next?
We are expanding our Divine Feminine offerings at the Light Collective... and I am flexing again my architecture skills! I am redesigning my home which feels like an exciting extra curricular activity outside of work.
Finally what is it about wearing Natasha garments that resonates for you, and what would you love to be wearing but haven’t found yet?
I love Natasha's clothes for their timeless quality- classic in shape, beautiful in texture, I feel so luxurious in them! I also love that there is always something a little quirky involved- a tie dye print here, an off the shoulder or a cut out, a scrunchy terry towelling. I love the combo of classic meets interesting. I love anything matchy matchy so I would love a matching silk pajama suit, skirt and crop top, palazzo pants and tank, I would take any of it!
With thanks
Natasha xo
